Juliana Gusman is a researcher, professor, producer, curator, and film critic. She holds a PhD in Audiovisual Media and Processes (ECA-USP). Since 2019, she has been an assistant professor in the Department of Social Communication at PUC Minas. She also teaches in the lato sensu postgraduate course in Urban Cultures, Media, and Memory at the same institution. She is a member of the research groups Feminine Poetics, Feminist Politics (UFMG), Media and Narrative (PUC Minas), and MidiAto (ECA-USP). She is part of the curatorial team of the Cardume Curtas platform, the Belo Horizonte International Short Film Festival - FestCurtasBH, and the exhibition Mulheres Mágicas: Reinvenções da Bruxas no cinema. She is the editorial coordinator of Sara y Rosa, a portal for feminist criticism and Ibero-American cinemas. She has collaborated as a film critic for festival catalogues and portals such as Piracema, Farofafá, Cine NINJA, Revista Madonna and Cine Humberto Mauro Mais. She works mainly with themes related to cinemas made by women, feminist film criticism, Brazilian documentaries and with images and discourses on body, work and desire.
